Putin meets Trump envoy in Moscow for extended five-hour discussion

(MENAFN) Russian officials said early Wednesday that a high-level round of discussions in Moscow between President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff, along with senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, wrapped up after roughly five hours.

According to general accounts, Kirill Dmitriev, who took part in the meeting, described the talks as “productive,” sharing an image from inside the Kremlin session on a major US-based social media platform. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov likewise characterized the exchange as “constructive, very useful, and informative,” saying the conversation “thoroughly” explored possible elements of a settlement over the course of the meeting.

Ushakov explained that although “there is no compromise plan for Ukraine yet,” Moscow viewed some of the US suggestions favorably while rejecting others. He said Putin told the visiting delegation that Russia “could agree to some aspects of the US plan, but others were criticized.”

He also noted that Moscow had received “four more documents” beyond the original 28-point proposal put forward by Trump, adding that territorial questions were part of the discussions.

There was no immediate comment issued from the US participants.

According to general reporting, Witkoff and Kushner are expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Europe later Wednesday to brief him on the outcome of the Moscow talks.

The American proposal — which began as a 28-point document — has reportedly been narrowed during recent consultations with Kyiv, concentrating mainly on defining a de facto boundary under a potential cease-fire arrangement.
